So you have an idea for your business and now it needs to be planned. One of the biggest mistakes I see entrepreneurs make is starting their business first, and then planning it. It has
to be the other way around or you are going to be extremely unfocused.
Before you go and get incorporated you need to make sure that you have a plan. Before you have a business plan you need to have a personal plan. Sit down with yourself and ask yourself why you are getting into business. This will really help down the road when you feel like you have hit rock bottom and you need some self-motivation. Industry experts call this a "Life Plan." Thinking about and creating a life plan will make creating a business plan much easier.
Now that you have your life plan you can move into your business plan. As far as writing your business plan, this is a choice you are going to have to make. Do you write your business plan yourself or do you hire someone to do it?
Do It Yourself
If you decide to write your business plan yourself, you need to make sure that you know what it entails. Writing a business plan first takes quite a bit of research. What industry are you going into? Who is already in that industry? Where is the best place to open for business, etc. You also have to be a decent writer. Good solid business plans are thick documents that detail you business down to the last cent spent. Business plans also need to be updated at least once each quarter.
Hire a Professional
If the good Lord didn't put you on this earth for being a writer or a researcher, you should most definitely hire a professional business plan writer to create your business plan. Along with a professional business plan writer you are also pretty much getting a business planning consultant. Professional business plan writers have written so many business plans across so many industries, they probably already have most of the research done on the business you are trying to start. Professional business plan writers will also ask you questions you wouldn't know to ask yourself.
